FAQs
Why Squarespace
-
Watch this video to see how easy it is to create a page, add content, and upload a blog.
-
Squarespace was built to meet the needs to most people - that is, it is extremely easy to use. Ease of use means there are inherent design limitations to Squarespace, unless you have a designer (like me) with great coding skills and the ability to write code in such a way that the client can still apply that design once the designer is no longer in the picture.
Why pick me
-
Business Strategist - building a website to showcase your expertise will force you to evaluate a number of things: your messaging, your offerings, what you really want to do and who you really want to work with. It really forces you to get clear on your business and how it works, because your website is a reflection of that. I inevitably end up having business strategy conversations with my clients, because clarity about their business translates into clarity on their websites.
Branding Guru - I know how to make things look great, but, better than that, I know what design decisions will or won’t help you to achieve your business objectives.
Website Designer - I can build beautiful websites, but I’m really invested in building effective websites. That is, a website which enables you to connect with potential clients. An effective website is one where your expertise is structured, languaged and set out in a way that is attractive, accessible, and credible.

I’ve created a lot of websites for thought leaders, so I’m really clear about all of the information that you need to get out of your head and onto the page in order to create something great.
Once we agree to work together, you are given access to our Project Dashboard. In the Project Dashboard there is a section that sets out every page that you might need on your website, and there are multiple prompts for the type of content that should appear in each of those pages. I also include videos explaining exactly what I’d expect to see and why it is valuable to your potential clients, so you can create content that really sings.
-
I can’t walk past something that doesn’t really make sense or isn’t immediately clear. Once you give me your content, I will sense check it while putting it into the site, and raise anything with you that I think isn’t working.
-
After your website goes live:
You have access to support from me for 30 days for any questions you have, or tweaks you need help with.
I create a series of videos for my clients that walk them through, step-by-step, the things that they are most likely going to want to do on their sites, and how to use any custom coded section themes to create new pages that they decide they may want in the future.
Factors that affect pricing
-
A small site is about 3 - 5 pages. It’s great for a freelancer or contractor who is happy to showcase their offerings on the front page. It will normally include a home, about and contact page, and maybe a blog. A typical investment for a small site (up to 5 pages) built by me is $3,750 + GST.
A medium site is about 5 - 10 pages. It’s great for a newbie thought leader. It will normally include a home, about, contact, blog, shop (if you have a book or other things to sell), and 3 - 4 pages to set out their offerings (grouped by mode, market or message). A typical investment for a medium site (up to 10 pages) built by me is $7,500 + GST.
A large site is anything over 10 pages. It’s great for an established thought leader who has a number of areas to their thought leadership and who needs to include pages for a podcast, events, or media.
The more pages your site has, the more work it is for both of us, and the more your site will cost.
I do offer Website VIP Days where we can smash out a 10 page website for $4,000 + GST. I have designed some website templates for thought leaders which we use as the base for your site on these days (which is why we can get it completed in a day - all the coding is already done!)

A beautiful website is 1 part excellent content, 1 part excellent design. All design decisions need a reference point - the more developed your brand is, the better the reference point.
If you only have a logo and a colour palette, I will need to do some work to flesh this out to a point that it can translate into something beautiful. This work involves finding fonts, finding imagery, and bringing it all together in a way that you are happy with.
If you get me to create a brand identity for you, or if you come to me with a logo, colour palette, chosen fonts, a great bank of professional photographs of you or carefully curated stock imagery to support the brand, then I won’t need anything from you to start designing.
-
There are two ways to create your content:
Through you figuring it all out and writing it down for me to include in the website; or
Through a series of conversations with me. This option is great for external processors or people who really want expert help in crafting their messages, but it will cost more given the additional time it will require from me.
-
The thing that takes the biggest amount of time to build your website is how quickly you can pull together content. Without fail, clients underestimate how much work this will be, usually by about four times. So, if you think it’ll take you a day, it’ll probably take you 4. If you think it will take you a week, it will probably take you a month. This is because thought leadership websites are typically very big, and are showcasing thinking… when you start to write down your thinking, it forces you to evaluate it, and you’ll start seeing the gaps.
If you have all of your content and you need a website super quick, then check out my Website VIP Days.

I will include up to 15 blogs and 15 podcast episodes on your site. From this point, I will record you a video on how to upload these blogs and podcast episodes yourself. If you’re very anti doing this, then uploading additional blogs and podcast episodes will increase the pricing.
